St. Janani Church Building

Our History

St. Janani Church of Uganda Kabalagala was established in 1968 as a small worshiping community serving the growing Anglican population in the Kabalagala area. Named after Janani Luwum, the former Archbishop of Uganda who became a martyr for his faith, our church has stood as a beacon of hope and spiritual nourishment for over five decades.

From humble beginnings meeting in a temporary structure, the church has grown to become one of the prominent Anglican congregations in Kampala. Our current church building was consecrated in 1985 and has since undergone several expansions to accommodate our growing congregation.

Our Beliefs

As part of the Church of Uganda, a member of the Anglican Communion, we uphold the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds. We are committed to biblical teaching, sacramental worship, and evangelical witness.

  • We believe in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  • We affirm the authority of Scripture as God's revealed word
  • We celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion
  • We uphold the historic Anglican tradition
